Q. What is TravelTwix and how does it work?

TravelTwix is a UK travel discovery and deal publishing blog, every day we search dozens of websites, emails, Facebook pages, Twitter accounts and other social media in order to find the best travel and holiday deals, voucher codes, offers, and discounts.  Those we like, we post on traveltwix.co.uk.

We post all types of travel and holiday deals – from an All-Inclusive holiday, a city break or simply a relaxing spa break – there’s everything for everyone.

Our homepage automatically lists deals in the order that we find them, but if you didn’t find the right deal on the homepage, check out our categories. There you will find travel offers within the categories HolidaysHotelsSpecials and Flights.

We also have our Flight Finder search powered by Skyscanner that helps to find you the cheapest flights on your dates and the cheapest website to book with.

If you see a deal you like, simply click the Deal Button.  This will open the website where the deal was found.

Where applicable we always try and tell you the exact details we used to find the deal i.e. time and day of departure, departing location, number of nights etc.

Here you can check or amend the details to suit your exact needs.

Q. Can you find me a specific deal? Deal Request?

In short, the answer is we can always try :-).  Please visit our contact us form and send us over the details.

Please note we often get inundated with requests and it takes time to get back to everyone as we go searching for the best and cheapest holidays.

Q. Who are TravelTwix?

TravelTwix is a small team of travel deal finders based in the United Kingdom (UK).

Q. Is TravelTwix a travel agency? Do you work as a travel agent?

No.  TravelTwix is not a travel agency or travel agent.  We are a travel deal discovery blog. There are hundreds of travel and holiday websites offering lots of different deals and packages and here at TravelTwix we try to filter the best deals from those available and post them on our website and social media pages.

None of the deals we post are provided by us. Deals must be booked directly with the provider.

We do NOT offer any of the deals that we post. We simply show you the cheapest way to find a holiday and where to find them. The deals published on our website are not provided directly by us, but by external travel agencies and providers. Deals must be booked on their websites using the screenshots provided as a guide.

Q. How do you find the deals?

With lots of patience and hard work – through the process itself is relatively simple.  We filter through dozens, maybe even a few hundred websites, emails, Facebook pages, Twitter accounts and other social media looking for deals.  When we find something we like – we post it.

What helps is our experience. Often we can see a holiday, break, trip or flight advertised and conclude quickly if this really is a good deal.

We also keep a keen eye out for vouchers, last minute deals and even ‘error fares’.

Q. What is an Error Fare?

An error fare is pretty much as you would expect, it’s an error in the fare price advertised.  This can often happen when a travel company sets up a promotion and in doing so applies the wrong price – maybe the flight should have been £500.00, not £50.00 but that missing zero makes all the difference.  If we spot it, then we’ll shout about it.

Q. What is the key to getting a great travel or holiday deal?

In a word ‘flexibility’ and in a sentence – ‘date and location flexibility’.

Q. Where is TravelTwix based?

TravelTwix is based in the London, United Kingdom (UK).

Q. Is TravelTwix free?

Yes. TravelTwix does not charge its users to browse the offers we display.

Q. Is TravelTwix ATOL protected?

TravelTwix is not a tour operator, travel agency or travel agent – we are a travel and holiday deal blog.  None of the travel or holiday deals found on TravelTwix are booked through us, you will be redirected to the provider.

This is why TravelTwix is not ATOL protected.

Consider TravelTwix to be an inspirational guide with great holiday deal links.

We try to make sure all that the deals listed are bonded with ABTA and/or IATA and all packages are ATOL Protected but please always double check for yourself.  Also note that “Do-it-yourself packages” are excluded, as you would need to book the hotel and flights separately.

FAQ – Deals

Q. How can I book a deal?

It’s very easy to book the deals we post. All you have to do is click the button or link that links to the provider – this usually says words like “book your holiday here”, “book your flight here”, “view deal”, “get deal” etc.

Clicking on the button will direct you to the travel or holiday provider – such as OntheBeach, Expedia, Trivago, or Wowcher and that is where you can pursue your booking.

Q. Can I change the dates or party size of the deals? Can I get the same deal departing from my favourite airport?

In most cases, most changes you want to make such as time, dates, party size etc are all adjustable or with alternatives available, though you should be aware this often impacts the price.  Often the art or science of getting a great travel of holiday deal is flexibility – travel operators know when the most popular times are and often increase prices along with demand.  The more flexible you can be the better chance you have of getting a good deal.

Q. Which is the best Airport to depart from?

There is no ‘best airport’ but it is worth noting that airport selection often impacts the price.  Most holidays depart from the biggest airports and this is usually reflected in a lower price.  With this in mind, it can often be worth checking out the cost of traveling to another airport if it’s cheaper than your preferred option.  Sometimes the savings can be considerable – especially if there is a large group who could share the cost of multi-seater transport.

Q. Why are some of the deals not bookable or showing dates in the past?

We are a travel and deal blog.  The deals we list are not automated.  They are handpicked and posted.  This means that some deals may be available for weeks and even months after we first post them while others might expire only minutes later due to limited availability.

Example:  The Radisson hotel Manchester might do a summer offer for any mid-week overnight stay and treatment.  That deal could be live for all of August, while we might equal find a great half-board deal to Barbados via TUI Thomason departing tomorrow with only 4 seats available left – and thus 10 minutes after we post it, some has snatched it up – hopeful having seen it on TravelTwix J.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to go back over old deals and check if they are still available, update prices or other details and this is why you may find deals that are not bookable anymore or showing dates in the past.

Q. Why do I sometimes see a different price, when I click on the link to a deal?

Often holiday and especially flight prices can vary a lot and fast – sometimes within a matter of minutes.  We provide a screenshot of each deal we post – but we have no influence making sure a price remains as we posted it.  Often in the case of special offers specifically being promoted by a provider such as £99 for a mid-week summer stay at the Radisson Manchester will remain the same for the duration of the promotion, though unfortunately, the price of a deal is subject to change quickly. Within a couple of minutes, a bargain travel or holiday deal can get more expensive or even cheaper. That’s why it might happen that you see a different price than we did. We try to add a screenshot to every deal we post – this is to show that the price we state was available at the time that we posted the deal.

You should note, flights and travel involving flights are very susceptible to price changes.

Q. A provider displays double the price you have promoted – why?

When we post a deal we usually post on a per person basis (pp) – though some providers display their price based on a per room basis only, or with a minimum of two people.  We assume people will split the cost so we show the price on an individual basis.  Sticking with our £99 for a mid-week stay at the Radisson Manchester – we would display this as £49.50 per person.

Q. When is the best time to book a holiday?

Our view is there is no best time other than when it suits you to make your booking based on your circumstances.

If you can be totally flexible with dates and locations then read our travel and holiday blog, but as most people need to plan due to other commitments, we say look for a good travel of holiday deal that meets your budget and needs.

Q. Why is there a difference in costs at different times of the year?

In short supply and demand.  The prices vary and depend a lot on the time of the year you want to travel and the demand. The costs of a holiday within Europe are very high especially during peak seasons such as school holidays, summer months and public holidays. Travel providers are able to charge higher prices due to the higher demand. Whereas many Long-haul destinations experience peak season during our winter months. The cheapest deals are very often outside peak seasons, so the more flexible you are the higher the chance to find a cheap holiday.

Q. Can you find me a holiday?

Often yes.  Please contact us – and provide the details of the trip, break or holiday you are looking for and if we can find you a great deal we’ll pop you the details over in an email.

Please note we often get inundated with requests and it takes time to get back to everyone as we go searching for the best and cheapest holidays.

Q. Do I have to book immediately?

It is always safer to book as soon as you can as this increases the chances of the price being the same. But it’s completely up to you, just note that the prices are subject to change.

Q. Can I pay with a deposit?

Every deal is different. You need to click through to the holiday deal provider and check the options.  For local trips, staycations, city breaks, and staycations usually you pay in full, but for holidays many providers offer low deposits schemes so you can secure the deal.  Again you need to check with each deal provider.
